Become a Volunteer of the Pfeiffer Nature Center TODAY!

So You Want To VOLUNTEER !!

Why volunteer?

Volunteers meet new people, have fun and use their knowledge and skills while learning new things every day! You can help make Pfeiffer Nature Center an even better place by being involved!

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Volunteers ensure our success in providing nature-based programming, caring for our living museum, and through this work we help to create an area for scientific research and the enjoyment of nature. We think Pfeiffer Nature Center is well-positioned to be a premier nature center, and volunteer commitment and work make this so!

How much time does it take?

It depends on the job or project you are interested in and we are working on at the time. It could be as little as an hour or two once a year, or 3-4 hours per week. For example, we ask our office volunteers to work 3-hour shifts. Interpretive Volunteers (serve as trail guides and program assistants) also work 2-4 hour shifts and are asked to contribute at least twenty hours per year. Trail and Cabin Clean-Up Days generally are scheduled for 3-4 hour shifts two or three times a year. Informational and Public Relations booths at local festivals or events usually require 3-4 hour shifts. With any volunteer position we will strive to make it convenient for you and your schedule.

Who can become a volunteer?

Anyone!

We work hard to match the right person with the right job. In any position guidance is provided to allow you to be successful. And, for the Interpretive Volunteers, we offer training once per year for interested individuals (18 years and older) as well as several annual continuing educational opportunities.
