Research at the
Pfeiffer Nature Center
Anna Fuller, currently a Senior
majoring in Biology and Environmental
Science at Alfred University is studying the vernal
pools here at Pfieffer
Nature Center. Her purpose is to compare these pristine
vernal pools, with
other pools in the area as well as other small bodies
of water. The
research being conducted on the pools varies from
testing the Dissolved
Oxygen content of the water, to measuring the pH,
temperature, and the
conductivity of the water as well. Small samples
of water from each pool
are also taken and through the use of an Ion Chromatographer,
she can find
what ions are most common in these pools. Check
back for periodic updates
