Let Earth Day be the reason to assist with the annual spring clean-up at Pfeiffer Nature Center . Help clear and groom trails or work on cabin museum projects at the Nature Center . Show up, give back, and make a difference while doing something good for our planet. Open to anyone with a desire to make a difference. Public invited.

Visit with Mark Baker from Hawk Hideaway & Pfeiffer Nature Center at War Veterans Park in Olean . This event is free and gives the opportunity to bring a little of the wilds into the beautiful green park space. Enjoy the alphabet soup of animals from amphibian to birds and mammals and salamanders. Fun for the whole family.

Have you ever wanted to wander around a museum at night visiting exhibits usually only seen during regular visiting hours? Now is the time for a fun, guided adventure of some of the most interesting living relics in the Outdoor Living Museum of Pfeiffer Nature Center. Come celebrate 10 years of Pfeiffer Nature Center and be prepared for fun.

Get Out & Celebrate National Trails Day. Follow rolling hills, woodlands, meandering streams near meadows and grasslands, and wonderful vistas on trail selections which range from easy to more difficult. Trail walks and run include easy 1 mile, 5k , 10k and 10.5mile. Registration required.

Breath taking views, old growth forest and miles of trails are not the only remarkable things at Pfeiffer Nature Center . Listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places, the rustic American Chestnut Cabin once served at the Pfeiffer-Wheeler family summer getaway and is now a central exhibit in the outdoor living museum. Join us for this free guided tour where science, art, and nature come together. There are two tour times to choose from 10:00am or Noon. Pfeiffer Nature Center-celebrating 10 years.

Get out and celebrate on a mid-summer evening. Join wildlife rehabilitation specialist at Pfeiffer Nature Center to learn about these elusive hunting machines. There will be live birds on display, hands-on activity. The fun continues with a short hike to call in native, wild owls. Great fun for families and an opportunity to meet new people. Public Invited.

Join us for a fun and educational morning looking for some of the fifteen species of amphibians and reptiles that call the habitat of the old growth forest home. Program will be lead by expert interpretive guides. This is a wonderful activity for families or anyone looking to be outdoors and active. Public Invited.

Saturday, August 9, 1 & 2:30pm
Join us for this free guided tour where science, art, and nature come together. Ancient trees are cool! So are vernal pools, ponds and coves. One of the oldest living relics in the Ischua Valley and Portville Ridge area may be a 500 year old black gum ( Tupelo ) tree. This guided tour will take you to this tree dinosaur which is one of the exhibits in the museum. Other tour stops include remnants of the once numerous Chestnut trees, Historic Pfeiffer chestnut cabin made from salvaged chestnut logs and Wendy's tree. There are two tour times from which to choose; 1:00pm or 2:30pm. Come celebrate 10 years of Pfeiffer Nature Center and be awed.
